In the days of horse thieves, bank and train robbers, one group made their name by murder. Riding town to town, they killed for survival. The Brigand (Luparn, Hensan, Hurth and Mallone) kill for money, food, and shelter. A group of bandits driven from their home by the law, they now seek a new place to live.

In a dusty town, the four men enter the lives of its citizens. Keeping themselves quiet at first, an attack on local store owner Stan Trowel raises the suspicions of sheriff Dain Wallis. Wallis is forced to confront the men, and in turn the men threaten to take over the town.

Wallis is faced with the pressure of saving his town. All the while, The Brigand continue to spread chaos in the normally soft-spoken community. The murder of Wallis' wife leaves him angered, and wanting revenge.

His choices are to follow the law the way he has promised his town, or to take a higher law.
